Apperance of the Bottleneck dolphin
Common Bottlenose Dolphins are named after thier short & thick snouts. Normally all Bottlenose Dolphins are grey to almost black in the top of their dorsal fins and light grey (almost white) towards the belly. However there have been some pink bottlenopse spotted around Amelia Island. The Bottlenose skin is smooth and feels rubbery since the skin has no hair or sweat glands.

Behavior
Bottlenpse Dolphins are very social they are known for establishing close links with individuals within thier own species. Although they are also great at making connections with other dolphins of other species.Bottlenose dolphins are known for staying in pods with other dolphins in order to protect themselves from threats and predators. There have also been some reports of Bottlenopse dolphins who show aggression and establish dominance including; biting, chasings, smacking thier tails on the water and creating bubble clouds from thier blowholes.

Intelligence & Echolocation
Bottlenose Dolphins are one of the smartest aniamls in the world, they are able to create up to 1,000 clicking noises per second. Bottlenose dolphins travel in pods and they communicatewith eachother with squeaks and whistles and they have the ability to echolocation. It allows them to see better underwater by allowing them to translate echos from the sound of waves when objects bounce off the objects.

Physical adaptions of the Bottlenose Dolphin
Some of the physical adaptions for the bottlenose dolphin include the blowhole whoch is on top og the body which allows the bottlenose to come to the surface, take in air and allows it to swim. When the bottlenose sleeps half of its brain stays awake so it allows the dolphin know whne its time to come up to the surface in order to get air. Other physical adaptions include the decreased surface to volume ratio which the bottlenose body shaoe and reduces the limb size in order to decrease the amout of surface area in the outside.

Reproduction
Bottlenose dolphins reproduce throuhg internal fertilization just like all mammals and females give birth. Bottlenose dolphins are are able to swim after being born and they do depend on the mothers milk for about two years. Bottlenose dolphins who are female have a gestational period for 12 months and give birth every 3 to 6 years. The birth periods are usually in the spring and summer. After birth calves nurse on thier mothers for about 20 months and they stay with thier mother 3 to 6 years since femal bottlenose dolphins start to reproduce from ages 7 to 12 even though they sexually mature at 9 -11. Male bottlenose dolphins do not mature sexually till 12-14 years.
